Herring oil like other fish oil from the deep cold sea in small amounts it is good for you. Herring fish oil is considered one of the healthy oils, but too much of a good thing will still make you gain weight.  An average of 1 tablespoon a day when trying to lose weight should be enough.  If you are getting fats and oils from other sources you will not need this much.

One thing you will notice about this chart is that there are few vitamins and minerals left after processing the oil. Why not eat herring and get some oil that way. The herring will have more nutrition.  Be careful though; I know that too much fish will put the weight on you and me both.
